The Tech Side of Your Business, Sorted Locally

Websites, hosting, and the technical needs of your business, in plain English and at small fixed prices.

For several years I’ve worked for a global marketing company, building the technology behind the websites of some of the world’s best-known brands.

I’ve lived in Herefordshire for years, and my aim as a consultant is to help the businesses around me get the best out of the technology available to them. The county is full of good independent shops, growers, artists, makers and artisans, and family trades that are the life and soul of the place, as well as larger firms and organisations putting it on the map. Whatever the size, a lot of their websites don’t do them justice: stuck a decade back with low-resolution photos, costing more each month than they should, or too fragile for anyone to dare touch.

It isn’t just me, either. My wife and I run this together: I look after the technical side — the websites, the hosting, the fiddly bits and the money-saving — and she brings the design eye, the brand, the logo and the look that make a small business feel like a real one. Between us we can take you from no presence at all to something you’re genuinely proud to hand out at a market stall.

If you’re looking for something sleek and modern that works without costing the earth, we’d be more than happy to help. You can have a website you run and update yourself, without the unnecessary monthly fees so many companies bolt on; or, if you’d rather not think about it at all, I’ll look after the whole thing for you at a small, honest price. Our fees are fair for local businesses, delivered by people you can actually find. No call centre, no London price tag, no being talked down to. Just neighbours who want to help your business grow and flourish.

What I can help with#

Websites, hosting & fixes

One-page site

Get Online

from £350

Founding intro: £295 for my first few. One smart page, built and handed over.

A single, smart page so people can find you, see what you do, and get in touch — perfect if you just need a proper presence without a whole website behind it. Fast, modern, works on a phone, and yours to keep. I'll build it with you, show you how to update it, and hand over the keys. It's the easiest way to stop losing customers to a business two doors down who happens to be easier to find online.

New website

Fresh Start + Hand Over

from £900

One-off. Design, build, a training session, and the keys handed to you.

A fresh, fast website with a proper eye for detail, built to do exactly what your business needs and nothing it doesn't. You can be as hands-on with the design as you like: sit with me and we'll shape it together, or steer it yourself with a bit of guidance from me. Either way we use modern tooling to get the best results for your business, and hosting is sized to what you actually use, not an eye-watering monthly bill. When it's done I'll show you how to update it yourself, write it all down, and hand it over. It's yours.

Hosting & changes

Looked After

hosting from £5/month

Changes at a fixed price per job, agreed before I start. Just ask. No retainer, no lock-in, no surprise bills.

Hosting made simple and honest. Most local businesses just need a straightforward static site, and I'll host that from £5 a month: fast, secure, and a fraction of the usual bill. (A shop or booking system needs a bit more under the bonnet; I'll tell you plainly what yours costs to run, and never more than it has to.) When you want something changed, you ask, I quote a fixed price before I start, and you only pay for that one job. No monthly bill hanging over you.

Ad-hoc help

Rescue & Fix

from £50/hour

Founding-client intro: £35/hour for my first three Herefordshire clients.

Something on your site playing up? A form that won't send, a newsletter that won't go out, a page that looks wrong on a phone. I'll sort it, explain what it was in plain English, and only charge for the time it takes.

Brand & getting found

Brand & design

Brand Kit

from £250

Logo, colours, fonts, and business-card + social templates — all yours to keep.

A proper look for your business, put together with care: a logo, a colour palette, fonts that suit you, and ready-to-print business cards and social templates to match. Everything consistent, everything yours, so whether it's your website, a market stall, or a post on Instagram, you look unmistakably like you — polished, recognisable, and confident. Especially handy for makers, artists and artisans whose work deserves a presentation as considered as the work itself.

Getting found

Content & Audience

from £150

A friendly session plus a written plan to turn visitors into customers.

Having a website is one thing; being found, and turning a curious visitor into a customer, is another. In a friendly session we'll map out who you're trying to reach, what to say to them, and the simple, honest steps that guide someone from just looking to getting in touch — no dark patterns, no pressure. You'll leave with a plain written plan you can actually follow, whether you post on social, send the odd newsletter, or just want your website working a little harder for you.

Wider tech help

Save money

Tech & Cost Review

from £150

Sole trader from £150; small business £250 (half-day); larger from £450/day. Scaled to your size, agreed first.

Paying for hosting, software, or an IT contract you're not sure you still need? Bring me your bills and I'll go through them honestly and tell you where you're overpaying, what you actually need, and which modern or cloud options would save you money — in plain English, with a short written summary to keep. The fee scales with the size of your business and is agreed before I start, and there's no obligation to act on any of it. More often than not it pays for itself within a bill cycle or two.

AI, gently

AI, Gently

£350 a half-day

£275 for my first few. A pre-chat, hands-on time on your own laptop, and a plain-English guide to keep.

AI without the hype or the worry. In half a day, on your own laptop, we'll take one or two of the jobs that eat your week (drafting the newsletter, answering enquiries, replying to reviews, or a website that updates itself from a spreadsheet) and make them lighter. You'll leave with a simple written guide to exactly what we set up, and I'll always be honest about where AI genuinely helps and where it really isn't worth the bother. Nothing gets automated that you don't understand, and nothing leaves your hands.

Planning a bigger build

Scoping & plan

Discovery & Architecture Packet

from £1,500

Fixed price, agreed before I start; bigger or multi-part projects quoted after a short chat. Takes a week or two. If you appoint me to build it within a year, the fee comes off the build cost.

Planning something bigger than a single page — a proper web app, a booking system, an interactive map, anything with real moving parts — and want it built by a software house? I'll get it ready to be built well: work out exactly what it needs to do (and what it doesn't, so nothing balloons later), make the important technical decisions and write down plainly why, and hand you a clear, build-ready plan any developer can pick up, check quickly, and quote a firm price against. It means costs you can plan around, no nasty surprises halfway through, and a project whoever builds it can't easily get wrong. Yours to shop around with — and if you'd like me to build it later, the fee comes off the cost.

Running something bigger — a growing team, real infrastructure, or a cloud bill that’s got out of hand? That’s my day-job speciality too. Mention it when we chat and I’ll tell you honestly how I can help.

Planning a bigger build#

Sometimes a smart page isn’t enough — you’ve a real project in mind. A booking system, a shop, an interactive map, something with proper moving parts. That’s my day-job speciality, but as I’m just starting out on my own I can’t always take on a full build straight away, and I’d rather be honest than over-promise and hold your project up.

What I can do is get it ready to be built well. It’s a fixed-price piece of work I call a Discovery & Architecture Packet, and it takes a week or two:

  • I scope it properly — what it needs to do, and just as importantly what it doesn’t, so nothing balloons later.
  • I make the important technical decisions and write down why — the kind of choices that decide whether a site stays cheap to run and easy to change, or turns into a headache in two years. Each one recorded plainly, so it’s never a mystery.
  • You get a build-ready plan — a clear brief any software house can pick up, check quickly, and give you a firm price against, instead of re-scoping it from scratch and charging you for the guesswork.

The point is simple: firm costs you can plan around, no nasty surprises halfway through, and a project whoever builds it can’t easily get wrong. It’s yours to shop around with — and if you’d like me to build it myself further down the line, the fee comes off the cost.

Why bother, rather than just diving in? Because the surprises are where projects go wrong, and they’re rarely cheap. Industry surveys put uncontrolled change — the dreaded scope creep — at more than half of all projects: work nobody scoped, turning into a bill nobody planned for. Pinning it down first is simply how the serious projects are run. From the UK Government’s own service teams to specialist studios like thoughtbot, a paid “discovery” step comes before the build — precisely so whoever builds it can give you a firm price instead of guessing, and so the guesswork doesn’t land on your invoice later. It’s that same discipline, sized for a local business.

Tell me about your project

Common questions#

Will I be locked in?
No. When I build or fix something for you, I show you how it works, write it down in plain English, and hand you the keys: the site and the domain name are yours. If you ever want to take them elsewhere, you can. Keep me on for a hand if you’d like one, because you asked, not because you’re stuck.
What does a change cost?
A simple fixed price per job, always agreed before I start, so the bill is never a surprise. No monthly retainer, no meter running, and several small tweaks asked for together count as one job rather than a string of little charges. Tell me what you need and I’ll tell you exactly what it will cost.
Is AI safe for my business?
AI is just another tool in the toolbox. I’ll sit with you and show you where it genuinely helps, whether that’s the drafting or the repetitive jobs that quietly eat your week, and how to get a good result quickly so you can do it yourself. Nothing gets handed to a machine that you don’t understand, and nothing leaves your hands. Think of it as upgrading from a scythe to a combine harvester: faster, better yield, and somewhat more fun.
Do I need to be technical?
Not at all. I write everything down and show you what to do; I always ensure my clients have confidence in the knowledge I provide.
